Privacy Policy
Effective 23 October 2026
In short: you use 10 Breaths anonymously, with a handle you choose, not your name or email. Your journal is private to you. What you post on the wall is public under your handle. We use a few carefully chosen service providers, including an AI provider to write the Breath Guide's replies, and we never sell your data or show you ads.
This policy explains what information the 10 Breaths app (“the app”) collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. “10 Breaths”, “we” and “us” mean 10 Breaths, 2nd Floor, C-269 Defence Colony, New Delhi 110024, India, which is responsible for your information.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Your anonymous handle (for example @QuietFern). We don’t ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the app.
- Onboarding answers: how you heard about us, your age range, gender, how much time you have each day, what would help you meditate regularly, your goal, your views on karma, your reminder preferences, and (if you write one) your vision for your life. Your vision is never shown to anyone else.
- Your sessions: the feelings you choose before and after each session, and anything you write about what your thoughts lingered on. These are saved to your private journal.
- Posts and comments you choose to share on the community wall, and the hearts you send.
- Flags you raise on posts or comments, with the reason you choose.
- Feedback and ratings you send us in the app.
- Invite codes you share or enter.
- Your settings, such as your sound and volume, and whether you allow the Breath Guide to use your journal thoughts for insights.
Information collected automatically
- An anonymous account ID, created when you first use the app, so your journal and posts stay yours across visits.
- Usage information: for example when you open the app and for how long, which tabs and buttons you use, the steps of a breathing session you complete, sound and volume changes, and whether you allow notifications. This never includes what you write.
- Technical information: your device platform (iOS or Android), app version, time zone, and the IP address your device uses to connect, which our service providers process to deliver the service and keep it secure.
Reminders are scheduled on your device. We don’t use advertising identifiers, we don’t track you across other apps or websites, and we don’t access your contacts, photos, location or microphone.
2. How we use your information
- To run the app: your account, journal, karma points, the community wall, invites and reminders.
- To write Breath Guide replies and notes, and to check posts for signs that someone may need support (see section 3).
- To keep the community safe: moderating flagged content, removing posts or comments, and suspending accounts that break our rules.
- To understand and improve the app, using usage information and feedback, mostly as totals across all users.
- To respond to you, and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
3. The AI Breath Guide
The Breath Guide is an AI feature. To write its replies and notes, we send the relevant text to our AI provider, OpenAI:
- When you post to the wall: the feelings and thoughts you chose to share, so the Breath Guide can reply on special occasions and check whether you might need support.
- For your private Breath Guide notes (milestones, patterns and weekly reflections): your feelings, session counts and times. Your journal thoughts are included only if you allow it in the Journal, and you can turn this off at any time.
- Feedback you send may be grouped into themes by AI so our team can review it.
We send only what’s needed for each task, without your account ID. OpenAI processes this information on our behalf under its API terms, which state that data sent through its API is not used to train its models by default. The Breath Guide is not a medical service, and its replies are not medical advice.
4. What others can see
- Public on the wall, under your handle: posts and comments you share, the Breath Guide’s replies to them, and heart counts.
- Private to you: your journal, your vision, your private Breath Guide notes, your karma history and your settings.
- Our moderators can see flagged posts and comments, and the handle of who wrote them, in order to review them. A small team can see totals for analytics, and the text of feedback you send. Our team does not read your private journal, except where needed to investigate abuse or a safety concern, or where required by law.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with service providers that help us run the app, and only for that purpose:
| Provider | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and servers that store and process your account, journal, posts and usage information | United States |
| OpenAI | Writes Breath Guide replies and notes, checks posts for safety, and groups feedback (see section 3) | United States |
| Expo (650 Industries) | Builds and delivers app updates to your device | United States |
| Apple and Google | App distribution, and notifications on your device | Various |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone’s safety, or as part of a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy would continue to apply.
6. Where your information is stored
Your information is stored and processed in the United States. Where it is transferred outside India or your country, we rely on our providers’ contractual and security commitments to protect it, in line with applicable law, including India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
7. How long we keep it
- Your account, journal, posts and settings are kept until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- Usage information is kept for analytics and may be kept in aggregated form that no longer identifies you.
- Records of moderation actions and flags may be kept as long as needed to keep the community safe.
8. Your choices and rights
- Choose what to share: each session is saved to your private journal, and you decide whether to post it, and whether to include your thoughts.
- Journal insights: allow or stop the Breath Guide using your journal thoughts at any time, in the Journal.
- Notifications: turn reminders off in the app or in your phone’s settings.
- Access, correct or delete: you can ask for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its data. Email us at the address below, or follow these steps to delete your account. Deleting your account removes your journal, posts, comments and karma.
- Depending on where you live, including under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you may have further rights, such as to withdraw consent, raise a grievance, or nominate someone to exercise your rights. Contact us to use them.
9. Children
10 Breaths is not intended for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 is using the app, contact us and we will delete their account.
10. Security
Information is encrypted in transit, access to data is restricted by account, and only a small team can access administrative tools. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will let you know about a breach where the law requires.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We’ll update the date above, and for significant changes we’ll let you know in the app.
